The Ca' d'Oro represents the most important and preserved example of gothic architecture – a style used in Venice in the 14th-15th centuries. The palace was built between 1421 and 1440 by Marino Contarini, a rich Venetian merchant. Other important architects took part in its erection, like Marco d'Amadio, Matteo Raverti and Bartolomeo Buon.

Opening hours: Mon 8.15 AM – 2 PM; Tue–Sun 8.15 AM – 7.15 PM (closed on Jan 1, May, 1, Dec 25)
